Hackensack Nurse Attends Local Boy Who Died From Wounds
November 26, 1918

It is said that Miss May Newkirk, a former nurse in the Hackensack Hospital, was in attendance of Private Ellwood Brockner, of Hackensack, when the latter was taken severely wounded to a basebuilt hospital in France. They instantly recognized each other, and doubtless Miss Newkirk was deeply shocked when the brave young man died.
